Q.  How many plan sets do I need?

A.   The number of sets will depend on your individual needs. We recommend a minimum purchase of a 5 Set Build package. Additional sets can be purchased up to 6 months from the original order date.

Q.  If I purchase a 1-Set Study Package can I have it copied?

A.   No. All of our plans are protected under the copyright law. You may not make any copies of the plans for any purpose, except in the purchase of reproducible vellums or CD ROM. "NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION" is stamped across each sheet of the study set.

Q.  What is reproducible vellum?

A.   A reproducible is ideal if you intend to make changes to your plan. They allow architects/designers to make changes without having to completely redraw the plan. You can use one of the following items to remove the image from vellum paper:

1. Xerographic eradicator fluid.
2. A dark gray ink eraser in an electric eraser.

Q.  Are all of your plans available on CDROM?

A.   No. But many are. Check your individual plan for availability. The plan will be provided in an AutoCAD format and will be placed on a CDROM. If you are planning revisions to your plans many architects and designers prefer to work from CAD files.

Q.  What do I get in a set of plans?

A.   Go to our About our Plans on our Home Page.

Q.  How can I find someone in my area to make modifications?

A.   We offer custom plan consultation and can modify plans according to your needs. This service is available with the purchase of the reproducible set of plans, which comes with the copyright release allowing modifications to be done.

Q.  Can I return a plan?

A.   Because our plans are copyrighted they cannot be returned for credit and/or refund under any circumstances. We recommend you consult with your local builder and determine what he/she will need to build the home and meet local building codes. Call our office to discuss any concerns you may have before ordering.

Q.  Can I build a home multiple times with a single purchase?

A.   No. Whether you purchase a 5-Set Build package, reproducible vellum, or CAD file it entitles you to build the plan one time. If you are planning to build the home multiple times you would need to purchase a reproducible vellum or Cad file along with a reuse license. Please contact our office for details.

Q.  Can you tell me where a particular plan has been built?

A.   Unfortunately, for privacy reasons, we cannot provide you with addresses of plans that have been built. We may be able to provide you with the names of builders/contractors in your area who have purchased the plan. You may contact them to see if the home has been built and where.

Q.  Do you offer material lists with your plans?

A.   We offer material lists for many of our plans. Please check our web site or call our customer service department for availability.

Q.  Why aren't HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical details included?

A.   Because climatic requirements and local codes vary throughout the country. It is necessary to know where the electric and water will enter your house. Your local contractors can determine the best layout for your home.

Q.  Do my plans require an architectural and/or engineering seal?

A.   Some cities and states require that a licensed architect or engineer review and seal a set of plans prior to construction due to concerns over energy costs, safety and other factors. We recommend that prior to application for a building permit or the start of construction that you consult with your local building official who can tell you if a review is required.
